Copyediting & Proofreading 

CE is about the improvement of a text (though not modifying the content) through the revision of spelling, punctuation, format, writing style, grammar, and accuracy of the information contained in it. The copyeditor will always make suggestions and will never change the substance of a text. The work is carried out hand-in-hand with the author.

The copyeditor is said to have the 5Cs as her goal: provide a clear, correct, concise, comprehensible, and consistent text. 

Proofreading occurs just before a text is about to be published. It is done in a printed page, and usually involves the correction of typos and the inclusion of suggestions, using typical marks, for the graphic artist.
